Chargers vball teams split at home; men defeat defending National Champs!

Camosun College Chargers host the Columbia Bible College Bearcats

In PACWEST volleyball action this evening, the hosting Camosun College Chargers started their two game weekend series against the CBC Bearcats with a 3-0 loss for the women and an exciting, barn-burning five set victory for the men who defeated the defending National Champions!

Despite a very close first set, Camosun’s women’s squad was unable to get past their opponents tonight and went down in three by the visiting Bearcats who handed the Chargers their ninth loss of the season.

Second-year leftside Elizabeth Davis (Glenlyon) led the home team with 11 kills and 9 digs. Davis currently leads the PACWEST in total offensive stats and is the top kill maker averaging 3.31 per set. She is also in the PACWEST’s Top 15 for aces (10th) and digs (15th).

In contrast, the Chargers men emerged victorious tonight with a huge win against the nation’s defending champs. Camosun dominated in the first two sets, with CBC responding to take the third and fourth. The home team captured the win in the fifth with a see-saw battle that went 28-26 and left both teams exhausted.

Fourth-year rightside Andrew Inglis led the Chargers to tonight’s big win with 26 kills, 12 digs and an ace.

The Chargers return to the court tomorrow to take another swipe at the Bearcats at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (Saturday, January 21) Women 1pm; Men 2:45pm.
